My song is called: 'I Could Have Been The One', in the music video the artist will be featured as the female protagonist. The genre of the music video will be narrative with areas of lip syncing to incorporate Goodwin's theory. As my artist is an up and coming artist I will use multiple close ups from a range of angles to allow the audience to create a stronger relationship with the artist. The narrative will begin with an equilibrium followed by a disequilibrium which will start at the lyric: 'It's been great but it's not working out.' I will emphasise the disequilibrium through the slow motion extreme close up of the protagonist and her lover breaking up. I will use non-diegetic music (the song itself) and remove all diegetic sound effects to allow the portrayal of the romantic genre to be correctly characterized.
There will be a second equilibrium towards the end of the music video as the artist walks away from the camera, indicating that she has gotten over the boy, and it's his loss that he broke up with her.
I would like to use a motif of some form however I am not completely sure what form of motif I would like to use - possibly a flower of some form.
The song that I have chosen is very emotive and romantic, therefore the editing between scenes will be slow tempo. However I would like to create a contrast between the different tempo of editing by having a montage of happier times through having many romantic dates between the protagonist and the lover. During these dates the motif will be featured, if I was to use a flower, each time there is a date a petal would be removed to as a symbolism of their love fading; although this is cliche I think that it depicts the characteristics of the romantic genre.
The music video will use many locations - to show different dates. Some of the locations I would like to use are: a bedroom, field (open greenery area), restaurant. I am still to confirm some of the locations. As I would like to show multiple dates between the couple the mise-en-scene is important in the music video to make it convincing, therefore there will be a range of costume changes. To show the difference between past and present I will choose a colour theme for the past and another colour theme for the present. The past theme will be a lot paler using colours such as: cream, grey, beige etc. The male character will possibly be wearing black as he is a symbolism of all male people.
